Community Guidelines

Last updated: March 22, 2026

Effective date: March 13, 2026

1) Purpose

Max the Cap is built to help people discover players, venues, leagues, events, dartboards, organizers, businesses, and related community activity through our website, applications, APIs, and related services. These Community Guidelines set the rules for how you may use the Service and participate in the community.

These Guidelines work together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and any feature-specific rules we publish. If there is a conflict between these Guidelines and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service control unless applicable law requires otherwise.

2) Scope

These Guidelines apply to all users, accounts, businesses, moderators, administrators, and anyone using the Service on behalf of another person or organization. If we make APIs, import/export tools, or automation capabilities available to you, these Guidelines also apply to that use.

They apply to conduct and content on or through the Service, including profiles, usernames, messages, listings, events, venue pages, leagues, dartboards, reviews, ratings, votes, reports, roadmap items, feature requests, appeals, uploaded content, referrals, promotions, automation, and support interactions.

They may also apply to off-platform conduct when that conduct reasonably threatens user safety, the integrity of the Service, or trust in platform features such as events, venues, messaging, reviews, referrals, ratings, stats, check-ins, or verification.

The examples in these Guidelines are illustrative and not exhaustive. Similar conduct, attempts to evade these rules, or helping others violate them may also be treated as violations.

3) Important Regional Rights; Quebec Language Note

Nothing in these Guidelines limits or waives rights that cannot lawfully be limited or waived under applicable law.

If you are a consumer residing in Quebec, French versions of these Guidelines and related consumer-facing contract documents must be made available to you as required by applicable law. If you are first provided the French version and then expressly choose to use an English version where permitted by law, the English version may apply as allowed by law.

4) Age Requirement

Max the Cap is an 18+ platform.

You may not use the Service if you are under 18. We may request age-related information or take reasonable steps to investigate, restrict, suspend, or remove accounts that appear to violate this rule.

5) Core Standards

When you use the Service, you must act honestly, lawfully, and with reasonable respect for others.

That means, at minimum:

  • be truthful about who you are and what you post;
  • respect privacy, boundaries, and consent;
  • do not misuse platform features, safety tools, or business tools;
  • do not put others at risk online or offline; and
  • follow applicable law and our published policies.

6) Harassment, Abuse, and Threats

You may not engage in harassment, bullying, stalking, intimidation, targeted abuse, or coordinated harassment.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • credible or non-credible threats of violence;
  • encouragement of violence or serious physical harm;
  • hateful, discriminatory, or dehumanizing content or conduct;
  • dogpiling, brigading, or organized abuse;
  • repeated unwanted contact or contact after a clear stop request, block, or refusal;
  • blackmail, coercion, extortion, or intimidation;
  • posting or sending false, misleading, or reputation-harming accusations as fact without a reasonable basis.

7) Sexual Content, Exploitation, and Predatory Conduct

You may not use the Service for sexual exploitation, predatory conduct, or coercive sexual behavior.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • sexual coercion, sexual extortion, or grooming;
  • non-consensual sexual content or threats to share intimate content;
  • solicitation of sexual services through the Service where prohibited by law or our policies;
  • sexualized content involving minors, or age misrepresentation used to evade the 18+ rule;
  • using platform features to pressure someone into sexual or romantic activity.

8) Self-Harm, Violent, and Dangerous Conduct

You may not use the Service to encourage suicide, self-harm, severe bodily harm, violent attacks, or dangerous criminal conduct.

We may take immediate action where we reasonably believe there is a risk of imminent harm.

9) Illegal, Fraudulent, and High-Risk Activity

You may not post, transmit, promote, facilitate, or coordinate illegal activity or unlawful transactions.

Prohibited content and conduct include:

  • child sexual abuse material or child exploitation material;
  • terrorism-related content or violent criminal facilitation;
  • fraud, scams, identity theft, chargeback abuse, or payment abuse;
  • phishing, malware, exploit code, credential theft, or account takeover tools;
  • trafficking or facilitation of prohibited or illegal goods or services;
  • instructions or tools primarily intended to commit fraud, compromise accounts, or evade law enforcement.

We may preserve evidence, cooperate with service providers, and report illegal or high-risk conduct to regulators, law enforcement, child safety organizations, or other appropriate authorities where permitted or required.

10) Authenticity and Identity

You must participate honestly.

You may not:

  • impersonate another person, venue, league, event organizer, business, moderator, or organization;
  • use deceptive usernames, profile details, badges, or imagery to create a false impression of identity, affiliation, authority, or verification;
  • falsify business, venue, payment, or verification information;
  • operate fake, duplicate, coordinated, or deceptive accounts for manipulation, evasion, or fraud;
  • buy, sell, rent, transfer, or unlawfully obtain accounts, access, badges, or verification signals.

Parody, satire, and clearly labeled fan activity may be allowed if they are not misleading and do not create safety, fraud, impersonation, or confusion risks.

11) Platform Integrity: Stats, Check-Ins, Referrals, Ratings, and Rewards

You may not manipulate platform integrity systems.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • fake or manipulated match results, scores, stats, averages, check-ins, attendance, location claims, or participation history;
  • coordinated or artificial activity intended to inflate credibility, ranking, verification, trust level, or engagement;
  • referral fraud, self-referrals, duplicate-account referrals, token abuse, or reward manipulation;
  • abuse of ranking, reputation, weighting, rating, matchmaking, trust, or recommendation systems;
  • creating or encouraging false reports, retaliatory reports, or coordinated reporting campaigns.

We may exclude, delay, hide, reverse, discount, not count, or place under review suspicious activity, content, votes, stats, check-ins, referrals, rewards, rankings, badges, or related signals while we assess integrity or policy concerns.

12) Listings, Venues, Leagues, and Events

If you create, claim, manage, promote, or participate in venue, board, league, tournament, or event content, you must provide accurate, current, and non-misleading information.

You may not:

  • create fake venues, fake dartboard listings, fake leagues, or fake events;
  • claim authority to represent a venue, operator, league, or organizer when you do not have that authority;
  • post misleading hours, locations, board availability, fees, payout terms, prize information, accessibility details, or house rules;
  • post duplicate, spam, or placeholder listings;
  • use misleading payment instructions, fee instructions, deposit requests, prize claims, or side-pot solicitations;
  • misrepresent sponsorships, official status, sanctioning, verification, or venue relationships.

Imported, partner-fed, auto-created, claimable, or unverified listings may be incomplete, stale, disputed, or corrected. False ownership claims, evidence laundering, claim stacking, or abuse of claim-transfer workflows are prohibited.

You are responsible for complying with local laws, venue rules, permits, alcohol rules, and age restrictions that apply to your events or operations.

13) Messaging, Promotions, and Contact Rules

Messaging on Max the Cap is consent-based and safety-first.

You may not:

  • send spam, scams, phishing, or repeated unwanted messages;
  • send promotional, referral, or commercial messages without any consent, notice, identification, opt-out, or unsubscribe mechanism required by applicable law;
  • bypass blocks, safety settings, message-request systems, or consent settings;
  • use messaging to harass, threaten, pressure, defraud, or coordinate prohibited activity;
  • harvest contact information from the Service for unsolicited outreach;
  • add users to off-platform groups, mailing lists, text campaigns, or marketing flows without any consent required by applicable law; and
  • circumvent a decline, block, unsubscribe, suppression list, invite restriction, or cooldown by using alternate accounts, organizers, teams, shared links, or off-platform channels.

If you use the Service to send commercial or promotional electronic messages to people in Canada, you are responsible for complying with applicable anti-spam law.

14) Reviews, Roadmap Items, Votes, Reports, and Good-Faith Participation

Reviews, roadmap items, comments, votes, ratings, and reports must be relevant, honest, and made in good faith.

You may not:

  • submit knowingly false, misleading, retaliatory, or malicious reviews or reports;
  • coordinate brigading, vote manipulation, or artificial engagement;
  • offer or accept undisclosed incentives for reviews, ratings, or reports in violation of law or our rules;
  • weaponize the reporting system to silence competitors, critics, or other users;
  • repeatedly post irrelevant, duplicate, or spammy commentary; or
  • post credentials, access tokens, payment data, personal contact details, precise location data, or other sensitive/confidential information in public or shared surfaces such as roadmap items, reviews, comments, or appeals.

We may weight, delay, hide, remove, investigate, reverse, or decline reviews, reports, ratings, votes, or related activity where we reasonably suspect abuse, fraud, manipulation, or policy violations.

15) Privacy and Personal Data

You must respect other people's privacy and personal data.

You may not:

  • doxx, expose, or share another person's personal, financial, account, or location information without authorization;
  • post private communications, documents, images, recordings, or identifying information without appropriate rights or consent;
  • scrape, harvest, or bulk-collect user data without our written permission;
  • attempt to infer or expose hidden, private, or non-public information from platform behavior, moderation actions, or internal tooling;
  • disclose confidential information from moderation, support, admin, trust-and-safety, or verification surfaces.

If you choose to post on public or shared surfaces, remember that others may copy, quote, cache, screenshot, or reshare what they can lawfully access. Do not treat public or shared features as private or confidential channels.

Content posted to public or shared features is also subject to the visibility, reuse, and license terms described in the Terms of Service.

16) Security, Technical Abuse, and Automation

You may not interfere with the security, reliability, or ordinary operation of the Service.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • bypassing authentication, authorization, rate limits, entitlements, verification flows, or safety controls;
  • credential stuffing, brute-force attacks, token abuse, session hijacking, or unauthorized access attempts;
  • probing, exploiting, or publicly disclosing vulnerabilities without authorization;
  • using bots, scripts, scraping tools, or automation in ways that harm fairness, safety, integrity, or service stability;
  • mirroring the Service, bulk-exporting protected data, sharing tokens or credentials, or generating automated accounts, votes, reviews, reports, referrals, or messages; and
  • reverse engineering or extracting protected data except where applicable law gives you a non-waivable right to do so.

Authorized security testing, bug reporting, research, or integrations must follow any rules, scopes, or written permissions we publish.

17) Intellectual Property and Brand Misuse

Only post, upload, or use content you have the right to use.

You may not:

  • upload or distribute infringing content;
  • use someone else's trademarks, logos, or brand identity in deceptive or confusing ways;
  • falsely imply sponsorship, endorsement, partnership, or authorization;
  • remove copyright, watermark, attribution, or ownership notices where prohibited.

18) Real-World Safety and Off-Platform Conduct

Because Max the Cap may be used to discover people, venues, leagues, and events, we may act on off-platform conduct that reasonably indicates a threat to user safety or platform integrity.

That may include, for example:

  • stalking, threats, assault, or credible intimidation tied to platform activity;
  • fraud or scam activity connected to events, payouts, deposits, or platform relationships;
  • impersonation or deception that carries into real-world meetups or transactions;
  • using the Service to lure, exploit, or endanger users offline.

Max the Cap is not a background-check service, and we do not guarantee the conduct, identity, safety, legality, or reliability of any user, venue, event, business, or organizer.

19) Enforcement

We may use automated tools, third-party screening services, internal signals, and human review to detect, investigate, assess, and enforce violations of these Guidelines, the Terms of Service, or other policies.

We may take action based on completed violations, attempted violations, evasion, facilitation, coordinated abuse, repeat behavior, or risk indicators.

Possible enforcement actions include:

  • warning or education notice;
  • content correction, suppression, removal, or other presentation changes;
  • reduced distribution or reduced visibility;
  • limits on messaging, listings, referrals, ratings, reports, or account features;
  • verification requirements or temporary holds;
  • reward, referral, payout, badge, or status reversal;
  • temporary suspension;
  • permanent account ban and, where supported by our systems, related access restrictions;
  • preservation of records and evidence;
  • legal escalation or reporting where appropriate.

We may act without prior notice where we reasonably believe there is safety, fraud, abuse, security, or legal risk.

We may preserve records, evidence, communications, and related metadata for investigations, fraud prevention, appeals, legal hold, safety, or compliance purposes, including after content is edited, hidden, removed, or accounts are suspended or deleted.

To the extent permitted by law, we may limit or withhold notices, evidence, reporter identities, internal review notes, detection methods, moderation signals, or detailed reasoning where disclosure could create safety, privacy, fraud, abuse-prevention, or legal risks.

20) No Duty to Monitor; No Guarantee of Safety

These Guidelines do not create a duty for us to monitor every user, message, event, listing, report, or interaction, or to detect, prevent, investigate, or resolve every dispute or harmful act.

Our enforcement decisions may account for available information, evidence quality, legal requirements, user safety, platform integrity, severity, repeat behavior, and practical constraints.

21) Appeals

Where we make an appeal path available, you may submit one appeal per enforcement action within the time period we specify.

Appeals should include enough information for us to review the action, including any relevant context or new information. We may deny, uphold, modify, or reverse an action. Some actions may be final or not eligible for appeal.

Appeal review may be limited to the information we choose to consider, and we may decline to share reporter identities, internal evidence, legal-hold information, moderation tooling, or other confidential materials.

Submitting an appeal does not guarantee reversal or restoration.

22) Reporting Violations

Use our in-app reporting or support channels to report:

  • harassment, threats, hate, stalking, or abuse;
  • fraud, scams, impersonation, or account compromise;
  • illegal or high-risk content or conduct;
  • suspected under-18 use;
  • fake listings, fake events, stat manipulation, or referral abuse;
  • privacy, security, or intellectual property violations.

23) Not an Emergency Service

Max the Cap is not an emergency service and is not a substitute for police, medical care, crisis intervention, or other emergency response.

If you believe there is an immediate danger, threat of violence, suicide risk, or other emergency, contact local emergency services first.

24) Updates to These Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines from time to time. Material updates may be communicated by in-app notice, email, posting on the Service, or an updated effective date, subject to applicable law.
